Phuket Floods and Disaster Insurance: 10,000 Baht in Initial Relief
About the article
After floods, flash floods and mudslides in Phuket in late October 2026, with more than 100 households affected in Patong and three shelters opened, the government confirmed the damage is covered by the state disaster insurance scheme. About 20 million baht in claims has been approved nationwide and another 354 million baht is under review. Eleven insurers take part. There have been almost 29,000 flood damage reports from 73 provinces, led by Phetchaburi, Lopburi and Chainat, but fewer than 200 approved so far. For Phuket, the government is pressing insurers to pay 10,000 baht initial relief per case. Patong residents can register until 6 November with copies of their ID card and house registration, photos of the damage and, for renters, a lease.
