น้ำทะเลหนุนท่วมแม่กลอง-อัมพวา: เมื่อทะเลบุกเข้าเมือง
High Tides Flood Mae Klong and Amphawa: When the Sea Comes to Town
About the article
In late October 2026, unusually high tides of about 3.8 metres pushed up the Mae Klong River in Samut Songkhram. Mae Klong Market flooded 30–40 cm deep, and the famous railway market (ตลาดร่มหุบ) had water on the tracks, with trains running through it. At Amphawa Floating Market, canal water flooded homes and walkways, rising from ground floors to upper floors in some spots. A resident of over 50 years said he had never seen it so bad. The cause was the high tide meeting water flowing down from upstream, so unlike dam releases it kept rising. Trade and tourism suffered. The municipality deployed more than 10 pumps and handed out sandbags, and the province warned low-lying areas to stay alert from 27 October to 5 November.
