Three Platform Giants Cut GP Fees: Breathing Room for Small Online Sellers
About the article
Thailand's Deputy PM and Commerce Minister Supajee Suthumpun announced that Shopee, TikTok Shop and Lazada will cut their GP (sales commission) fees for six months, from 1 December 2026 to 31 May 2027. Fees go back to their January 2026 levels for all categories except electronics. Lazada's maximum, for example, falls from 17.5% to 11.6%. The cut covers about 1.2 million small sellers: individuals with sales up to 1.8 million baht a year and companies up to 3.5 million baht. Sellers are expected to save about 1.93 billion baht in total. Delivery and ride-hailing apps have been asked not to raise prices for six months, a digital-platform law is being drafted, and sellers can report unfair practices to hotlines 1569 and 1570.
