Thai Education in the Age of AI: A Roadmap to 2030
About the article
The government is making education a national economic strategy to prepare Thais for the AI era. The Education Minister chaired a policy seminar in Bangkok with the World Economic Forum, joined by the World Bank, UNICEF, business leaders and educators. Education is to be seen as a long-term investment, guided by three principles: invest, use data and start now. A three-phase roadmap runs from building foundations (to 2027), to reforming curricula and assessment towards practical skills such as digital skills, AI and critical thinking (2028–2030), to a lifelong learning system with credit accumulation (from 2030). Businesses will help design curricula, and the plan aims to reduce inequality and school dropouts.
