เทศกาลกินเจ: ทุนวัฒนธรรมขับเคลื่อนการท่องเที่ยว

The Vegetarian Festival: Cultural Capital Drives Tourism

About the article

The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects the 2026 Vegetarian Festival (9–18 October) to generate about 1.32 million domestic visitor-trips and roughly 10.14 billion baht in revenue. Bangkok accounts for 6.71 billion, and the nine southern provinces for 3.43 billion (Phuket alone 1.43 billion). The festival is increasingly attracting younger, health-conscious travellers. TAT frames it as using cultural capital for 'value over volume', but warns that rain, floods, travel costs and weak purchasing power may push people towards shorter, value-focused trips, and urges travellers to check conditions before setting off.
